"VISIT JAPAN YEAR 2012" in Kinugawa-Kawaji Hot Spring!

This winter, Kinugawa-Kawaji Hot Spring will host the "VISIT JAPAN YEAR 2012", an event targeting foreign tourists. During the period between January 21 (Sat) and February 10 (Fri), 2012, there will be a number of services with great value only for foreign tourists, including services of New Year cuisine such as Oshiruko (rice cake in sweet Azuki bean paste) and Zenzai (rice cake in sweet Azuki bean paste and crushed Azuki beans) in ryokans and hotels, free admission to leisure facilities and free shuttle buses, free Ema, a Japanese tradition in which you write your wish on a wooden tablet, and special deals from tourist facilities, etc.!

An especially notable event is the "Chinese New Year Festival", which will be held on January 28 (Sat) and 29 (Sun). We will celebrate the Chinese New Year with Japanese and foreign guests with experiences of new year games such as battledore and spinning tops and a local talent show in the square in front of Kinugawa-onsen Station. Furthermore, we will also host "Jīng jù ('Beijing opera')" (February 2 (Thu) - February 6 (Mon)) played by a group from Beijing, China, a homeland of the play, and a set firework show that utilizes the river!

In addition to the above, the red oni "Kinu" and blue oni "Kawa", the image characters for Kinugawa-Kawaji Hot Spring, will welcome everyone during the "Kinugawa Oni Festival" on February 4 (Sat) and 5 (Sun). The festival will offer a number of exciting events, including a big tasting party of "duck soup" that uses local ingredients and a big drawing, in which you may win glittering prizes! Please visit Kinugawa-Kawaji Hot Spring during the period, relax, and enjoy a major winter event.

"Nikko Winter Festival", a new event to highlight Nikko in winter


Kinugawa-Kawaji Hot Spring will host "Nikko Winter Festival" from January to March in 2012 and welcome tourists with a variety of events, mainly including "Chinese New Year Festival" and "Kinu-Hime Festival". For the "Chinese New Year Festival", we will host the main event "Jīng jù", celebrating the 40th anniversary of the normalized relations between Japan and China. In addition to the above, we will host a "set firework show", which will be sure to entertain viewers with the set fireworks accompanied by music, using the bridge over a valley as the stage, and "Kinu-Hime Festival", in which we pray for healthy growth and happiness of girls. Especially during the "Kinu-Hime Festival", a number of programs are offered, such as the illuminated approaches, display and production experience of "tsurushi-bina", etc. Make fun memories in Kinugawa-Kawaji Hot Spring in the start of 2012!

It's the season! Winter sport information

"Hunter Mountain Shiobara", one of the largest ski resorts around the metropolitan area, will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2012, offering a variety of commemorative events! "Edelweiss Ski Resort" will offer special discount services on December 23 (national holiday), which will be the opening day, as well as New Year sake service on January 1. Furthermore, Kinugawa-Kawaji Hot Spring offers a variety of winter sports that will enable children and adults to experience winter nature, such as snow trekking and snow shoe tours, etc.
